There was a military truck running on the highway.
Its canvas top was trembling in the speeding air
swelling up and shrinking down, over and over.
Exposed to the sun, beaten by the weather with aged
wrinkles and washed-out colors, the canvas seemed to develop its countenance.

STORY
It all began in 1996 in a small apartment in Daikanyama, Tokyo. With a single sewing machine, we started giving shape to fabric, one piece at a time.
Captivated by the tactile nature of canvas, we became immersed in the process of refining its rugged essence into elegant forms and vibrant colors.
The creative space we call an atelier and the warmth created by human hands are always connected. Together, they shape ateliers PENELOPE

生産工程
ITINERARY
Guided by the belief that materials should be respected and their natural character brought to life, all prototypes are created in our atelier in Nakameguro.
From the initial sample, we refine the details and proportions through countless iterations until perfection is achieved.
We then pass the baton directly to trusted craftsmen who share our commitment to quality.
Once finished, each product returns to our hands for a final inspection and the attachment of the brand tag.
Because we believe in limited, thoughtful production, our entire staff is involved in every step from manufacturing to sales, allowing us to share the true value and story behind each piece with our customers.
素材
MATERIAL
We are committed to Japanese craftsmanship, with many of our fabrics sourced from Okayama Prefecture—Japan’s renowned center of canvas production.
In addition to our original color palette, we bring depth and character to our designs through specialized secondary treatments such as paraffin coating and vintage washes.
Furthermore, our proprietary fabrics, woven to our exact specifications, serve as the signature face of the brand.

Launched in 2019, our apparel line was born from a desire to expand our creative horizons, applying the insights gained from years of bag-making to a new perspective.
While bag design offers a certain degree of creative freedom—leaving much to the user’s personal style—clothing requires a different approach.
Every body is unique, and the definition of comfort varies from person to person.
Moving against the tide of fleeting trends, we envision our garments as long-term companions, much like a cherished piece of furniture or a reliable tool.
By fostering a synergy between our bags and apparel, we strive to evolve and enrich the overall world of our brand.
